Employee Spotlight: Shannon McGinley

ENREACH Education has so many great teachers and counselors on our team, and our Employee Spotlight Series is one of many ways we like to show our appreciation.  Meet Shannon McGinley!

When did you arrive in China?

January 13, 2020

What did you do for work before you came here?

I taught English and ESOL at a high school in north Philadelphia.

What is your role with ENREACH and what city do you live in?

I teach public speaking and critical reading and writing in Shenzhen.

What advice do you have for new employees and those new to China?

For new employees — really listen to what is being shared about life and work in China and accept any help that is offered. Everyone here is incredibly helpful and supportive. This is my second time in China and it’s a completely different experience because so many more support measures are in place. It’s been quite remarkable, actually.

For those new to China —  be flexible and have a sense of humor. There will be highs and lows. When you’re done, you’ll miss the highs and hopefully laugh at the lows.

Your favorite food you’ve discovered so far?

There is a great noodle place by the Futian office in Shenzhen. I can’t get enough!

Where are you going on your next vacation?

I want to see all the places and all the things, but for my first trip, I am leaning toward Tokyo. I have been itching to get to Japan for quite some time now to try the food, see cherry blossoms and indulge in all things Hello Kitty.
